-Hero-Protagnist
This means that this character is the leading character in the story and generally is good. In Clockwork Gretl is the protagnist.
-Antagonist
The antagonist is the bad guy in the story. In Star Wars 7 Kylo Ren is the antagonist. You could also argue that Snoke is the antagonist but he doesn't take any actions and only Kylo Ren is bad in that film.
-Catalyst
A catalyst is the person in a story who changes and starts the story. Also in Star Wars 7 I think that BB8 is the catalyst and Finn speeds it up.
-Round character
A round character is a character that has many different traits. In Clockwork Gretl is one of the round characters.
-Flat character
A flat character is a character with only 1,2 or 3 traits. Also is Clockwork Prince Florian is an example of a flat character.
-Archetype
A archetype is a type of a flat character that has 2-3 traits. In Star Wars 7 I think that Chewie may be a archetype.
-Caricature
A caricature is also a type of flat character with only 1 trait. In Clockwork Putzi the cat is a caricature because his 1 trait is selfishness.
-Foil
A foil is a character that could have been the hero/protagonist but made a decision that changed that. Also foils make the hero look more of a hero. In Clockwork Fritz is a foil because he decides not to finish the story.
-Growing characters.
A growing character is a character who has more traits at the end of the story then at the beginning. In the Maze Runner Thomas is a growing character because he has more traits at the end of the story than at the beginning.
