The Odyssey Paragraph
The Odyssey is the second oldest epic poem that is widely know, the Iliad being the first. The Odyssey is about a very clever thinker Odysseus, who is travelling back home to Ithaca after the fall of the city of Troy. This is a Greek version as the Roman one involves Ulysses, who is the Roman equivalent of Odysseus. This journey takes roughly 10 years to get back home after the ten year long battle of Troy. This story is a epic poem because Odysseus goes on a long journey with many conflicts. The story is also a long poem. Also Odysseus has more power than most people because he was a great thinker and used his brain to get out of problems. There are also elements that are supernatural like Cyclops and gods and things like that. Also in most epic poems the antagonist has supernatural powers but in the Odyssey there are no crystal clear baddies but I will use Poseiden as the antagonist. As you know Poseiden is a god so he is very supernatural. Overall the Odyssey has all of the elements needed to be a epic poem.
